How to Keep Your Furry Friends Happy During Home Sales
Selling your home can be quite a whirlwind, not only for you but for your pets too! Suddenly, the house smells different (let’s admit it, our homes are never this clean on a regular day). New people are trooping in, knocking on doors, and disrupting your pets’ daily routines. It’s quite the stress party for them.
For Our Canine Companions
If possible, consider sending your dogs on a little vacation to your parents, sisters, or friends during showings. This strategy will mean less cleaning for you, more flexibility during showings, and less anxiety for your dog(s). Keep in mind that every agent will knock on the door and every closed door, which could be maddening for a friendly pup like mine!
For the Feline Family
If your cats tend to be a bit of a flight risk or are prone to seeking revenge in your shoes, it’s wise to temporarily relocate them to a friend or relative’s place during the first week of showings. Nobody wants to be the person who loses a cat, right?
For Feathered Friends
For our avian friends, make sure their living space is clean and secure during showings. No free flights for them!
For the Reptilian Bunch
Please ensure their enclosures are spotless, and avoid live feeding during showings. It could be distracting and potentially turn off potential buyers.
For the Aquatic Allies
Let’s face it, fish are the chill masters.
As someone with both a dog and an ornery elderly cat, I get the ins and outs of house hunting and selling with pets. If you’re in need of a realtor who understands your furry family members’ needs, give me a call!
