Now that the weather is finally starting to thaw, it’s a perfect time to step out and savor the tail end of winter. Personally, this is my favorite time for leisurely walks. It’s chilly enough to feel cozy, yet the sun offers a delightful warmth on your face. If you haven’t already, consider taking your furry companion for a stroll along the Heritage River Walk in Burks Falls. The snowmobile trail, which is now closed, has kept the path well-trodden, and pesky bugs have yet to make their appearance. It’s a double win!

I also enjoy strolling through our town’s sidewalks since there’s less shade, allowing me to bask in the sun. If you’re up for a short jaunt to Huntsville, about 30 minutes from the Almaguin Highlands, you can explore the downtown area before the summer rush sets in. And if you do visit Huntsville, be sure to drop by That Little Place by the Lights for a delicious meal with an excellent wine selection and scrumptious pasta. Downtown Huntsville boasts a fantastic array of shops, and if you have little ones in tow, swing by the Kids Collective, conveniently located right across the river from Home Hardware, where you’ll find great deals on quality children’s clothing.
