Burks Falls is a fantastic small community in the heart of the Almaguin Highlands – I’m highly biased as I live right in town, but I think it’s such a lovely community.

With under 1,000 people, you definitely get to know your neighbours, post office ladies, and everyone at the hardware store and LCBO depending on how your DIY reno is going.

Huntsville is your closest large center, with multiple grocery stores, a vibrant downtown, restaurants and more. It’s 30 minutes away, right down highway 11 – so close enough to be easily accessible.

Burks Falls has everything you need right in town.

There’s also a medical center in town, and although you’ll have to go on a waitlist at first to get a doctor, the medical care is excellent, with a blood clinic also being available in the same building. Click Here for the Website for the Medical Center

We also have a fantastic year round garden center in Sandhill Nursery which is amazing to have so close. If you’re right in town the mulch delivery fee is very reasonable. Click Here for Sandhill’s Website

Land of Lakes is our primary school, from kindergarten to grade eight with under 300 kids in the entire school – and also offers extended French in grades 5 and up for those looking to expand their French language skills. Then the kids move into Almaguin Highlands Secondary in South River (about thirty minutes north) which was built in 2011, and offers two specialist High Skills Major programs.

One of Burks Falls best known attractions are the Screaming Heads – which are located right outside of town. Created by artist Peter Camani, they are a must see attraction if you’re in the area. This 310 acre property is also home to the Harvest Festival every fall, which attracts almost two thousand participants on a regular year! Click Here for more information on this amazing attraction.

In the summer there’s a Farmer’s Market that just started in 2021 – to great enthusiasm, as well as the Anderson’s Produce tent next to the Home Hardware downtown for your fresh fruit and veggie needs.

If you like getting muddy, then the ATV trails by the Algonquin West ATV club will be worth exploring. Click here to visit their website.

In the winter, Snowmobiling is the name of the game. Gas up in town and hit the trail just down by the river off the track – both D and AL trails are easily accessed from town. If you’re looking to put your sled to the test, you can always check out Drag at the Mag at our neighbouring community – Magnetawan – about twenty minutes from Burks Falls. Click here for the Almaguin District Snowmobile Club’s website.
