ALMAGUIN, RURAL, ALMAGUIN, LIVING, LIVE HERE, EXPLORE, SPACE, QUIET, HOME

If you’re considering taking the plunge into moving into Almaguin (or the non-city parts of Muskoka), odds are you’re at least considering looking at the houses that are outside of our many towns and villages. There are so many benefits to rural living!

By living rurally, you get unparalleled privacy. You can find any lot size, from half an acre, right up to 100 acres – and have all that space to roam and explore! There’s almost always distance between you and your neighbours (and in Almaguin – there’s also a ton of trees to shield your view), so you get to be cozy and secure in your own backyard.

By extension, this privacy offers you a quiet backyard experience. Read a book in your hammock in the summer without any noise but the chirping of birds (and maybe the occasional chainsaw if you can’t stop your husband), or enjoy your morning coffee overlooking your backyard without any distractions or listening to your neighbour’s latest argument about the milk jug.

By living rurally, you’ll also see a wide array of wildlife. In our area, we see turkeys, deer, moose, wolves, the occasional bear, and of course all the bunnies and birds you could ask for. Don’t be alarmed with the wolves and the bears, as long as you’re smart- respect their space and don’t leave attractants out (such as garbage) they’ll leave you alone as long as you leave them alone.

There are also a wide range of winter activities that you could explore on your road, your nearby lake or in your own backyard. Making an outdoor rink for your kids or grandkids is easy if you either have a beach close by or some time and effort. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glS2v7gf4bs). You can also go snowshoeing or cross country skiing, snowmobiling or tobogganing.

The biggest benefit to rural living is SPACE. Explore the hobby that you didn’t have the space to explore before. Gardening, outdoor entertaining (especially important during the uncertain times right now), creating multiple seating areas to take full advantage of the sun or best stargazing, spending nights next to the bonfire, or in the hot tub! By living rurally, the sky’s the limit and you can explore to your heart’s content.
